Hi Everyone!
Thank you ALL for the Birthday wishes!!! How did you guys know???!!! lol! I know, I am guilty of self promotion. But if I am not going to toot my own horn, who is? Right?
For my birthday my best friend and I went to a local “zoo” type place where they keep wild animals. We saw and got to feed by hand some deer, baby raccoons, a camel, the usual goats, etc. We also saw a couple of big black bears. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Unfortunately, all of the animals are behind fences – probably for their safety, which I guess is OK, but this “zoo” says it is the largest “petting zoo” in Wisconsin. It was not really a petting zoo. It was just a bunch of animals behind fences and you could feed some of them (the non-dangerous ones).
I love animals! When I was a kid my father would always find abandoned baby animals and bring them home. (we lived in the country). I had some unusual “pets” as a kid, like a deer, a bear cub, a raccoon, a couple of crows, a skunk, an owl just to name a few. We didn’t keep any of them in cages… they were free to come and go as they wished, they even were allowed in the house – but my mother hated it when Bambi (the deer) would jump up on the couch! It was an amazing experience that will live with me forever.
Now when I go to these “petting zoos” I find myself feeling sorry for the animals because they are usually kept in small cages and the ones that are not have to deal with screaming kids who have NO idea how to pet nicely or they chase the animal around the yard trying to catch it, not knowing that the animal does NOT want to be pet at that moment. There were LOTS of those types of kids at this zoo the other day.
But I still got to experience nature – even if it was captive, which I enjoy.
I didn’t take too many pictures because, like I said they were all behind fences, so the pictures would not look that good. But below are 3 pics that I wanted to share with you. I hope you like them.
So out of curiosity… Has anyone out there had an unusual pet? I would love to hear about it! Send me an e-mail at boyohboi@gmail.com or leave a comment!
By unusual, I mean something other than a dog or cat. Although dogs and cats make AWESOME pets!
Anyway,
